8th Annual Avidity Awards Winners Announced
Anthony Hall, and Gospel radio veteran, Dr. Liz among top award winners during the Biggest Night in Independent Gospel Music
(DALLAS) January 29, 2024 — The Avidity Awards celebrated its 8th year honoring excellence in independent Gospel music during a dynamic and inspirational weekend of events, concluding with the live-taped award show on Saturday, January 13th, at Jefferson Performing Arts Center in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. Hosted by 2-time GRAMMY-nominated, and 6-time Stellar Award-winning recording artist B.Slade, this year’s award show was a night filled with electric performances, powerful moments of uplift, and an atmosphere of camaraderie among the performers, nominees, and attendees.
Anthony Hall and Gospel radio veteran, Dr. Liz Black both tied for the lead among award winners, with Anthony Hall winning awards for Male Artist of the Year and Single/EP/Album of the Year and Dr. Liz Black winning awards for Radio Show Host of the Year and Radio Show of the Year.
The 8th Annual Avidity Awards featured electric performances by B.Slade, Anthony Hall, A1 Bold, Robyn McGhee, Anthony Jefferson, Talasia, The Exciting Holy Sons, Anton Milton, Cal Reaves featuring Pee Wee Callins, The Hawkins Boys, Adrion Butler and featured Emerging Artist Stage performers Nakia Lashan and Danielle Stephens.
The Avidity Awards also confers special award recognition to industry giants who continue building a legacy of brilliance that reaches and influences the masses. The 8th Annual Avidity Awards included special “Radio Vanguard” awards for Neiko Flowers, Assistant Program Director at Praise 102.5 FM in Atlanta, Georgia, and LaTonya “Lady Victory” Watson, on-air personality at KGGR 1040 AM/106.9 FM in Dallas, Texas. “Industry Vanguard” awards were awarded to Adrian Warren, Vice President of Sales at iHeart Media Jacksonville, Florida and Tracey Artis, noted Gospel radio promoter. Vanguard award recipients received their awards in recognition of their contributions to Gospel music, and specifically work they’ve contributed to the careers of independent Gospel recording artists.
Top nominees for this year’s show included Anthony Hall, who led the field with six nominations, followed by Otis Kemp, who received four nominations. Emcee N.I.C.E., Michael Dixon, Julius Pearson, and Amethyst all received three nominations.
